Telangana has registered a record-breaking power demand of 17,162 MW in March 2025, marking the highest-ever peak load in the state’s history and reflecting a sharp 9.8 percent increase over the previous year. This is the largest annual jump in demand the state has seen so far, according to official data.

The power department, which had already observed a steady growth over the past six years, confirmed that Telangana’s maximum demand rose by 1,539 MW between 2023-24 and 2024-25 alone. The earlier peak was 15,623 MW recorded in March 2024.

This surge corresponds with the state’s expanding industrial base, urban development, and rising agricultural needs. On March 18, 2025, Telangana also achieved its highest-ever single-day energy supply, reaching 335.19 million units (MU), surpassing the previous record of 308.54 MU on March 14, 2024.

Southern power distribution company TGSPDCL witnessed its own historic high on March 20, supplying 222.57 MU and meeting a demand of 11,017 MW. Meanwhile, the northern region TGNPDCL reported lower figures with a demand of 4,768 MW and energy supply of 87.87 MU on April 1.
