Three persons were killed in a powerful blast at a granite quarry in Dabbaguda, Meliaputti mandal, late Friday night. The deceased were identified as B. Appa Rao and S. Rama Rao of Tekkali, and K. Armugan of Tamil Nadu, who had been residing in Tekkali.
While the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, police suspect the use of gelatin sticks may have triggered it. Forensic and technical teams are investigating.
District Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar has formed a committee, headed by the Tekkali RDO, to probe the incident.
