Juno Joule Green Energy Pvt Ltd, a prominent Indian renewable energy firm, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with German clean energy company Select Energy GmbH at the World Hydrogen Summit 2025 in Rotterdam. The collaboration aims to co-develop a $1.3 billion green hydrogen and ammonia export facility at Mulapeta Port in Andhra Pradesh.
The MoU was signed by Juno Joule CEO Nagasharath Rayapati and Select Energy GmbH Managing Director Felix Danger, in the presence of key dignitaries including Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi and National Green Hydrogen Mission Director-General Abhay Bakre. The agreement signifies a major Indo-German partnership in the clean energy sector.
The proposed facility is slated to begin operations by 2029 and will produce up to 180 KTPA of green hydrogen and one million tonnes of ammonia annually. It will be powered entirely by solar, wind, and hydropower sources. The project also includes desalination units and port-linked pipeline infrastructure to support exports to Europe, Japan and South Korea.
Juno Joule is notably the only private Indian company independently exhibiting at the summit. The initiative is expected to generate between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while also helping to avoid 1.8 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. “This partnership strengthens India’s role in the global green hydrogen value chain,” said Rayapati, noting its alignment with the objectives of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The agreement also covers equity participation, the development of an ammonia terminal, and long-term offtake arrangements under EU-aligned regulatory frameworks.
