Two Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, both siblings, were killed when a Scorpio vehicle struck their motorcycle in Bodalla Veedu village of Veldurthi mandal on Saturday.
Family members alleged the incident was not an accident but a deliberate murder. According to police, the TDP leaders, J Venkateswara Rao and J Koteswara Rao, were travelling to their native village on a motorcycle when the Scorpio vehicle hit them from behind, killing both on the spot. The SUV then veered off the road and came to a stop in a nearby agricultural field.
The Scorpio is reportedly owned by another TDP leader, Thota Chandraiah, also known as Venkatramaiah. The deceased had longstanding political differences with Thota Chandraiah, with both groups competing for dominance in local politics.
Against this backdrop, family members of Venkateswara Rao and Koteswara Rao insisted that it was an act of murder. TDP activists told the media that Thota Chandraiah had previously been with the YSR Congress Party but recently joined the TDP.
Tension prevailed in the village following the suspicious deaths. District in-charge Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar spoke to the Palnadu SP, expressing grief and extending sympathies to the bereaved families. MLA Julakanti Brahma Reddy also contacted police officials regarding the incident.
