Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka emphasised Telangana’s strides in implementing energy sector reforms and outlined plans for the future at the Power Ministers’ conference. He articulated the state’s vision for a robust energy sector during discussions with Central officials and state counterparts.
The conference served as a critical platform for Centre-State coordination on issues ranging from clean energy transition to infrastructure expansion.
Bhatti CM reiterated Telangana’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply and strengthening energy security in urban and rural regions.
Focusing on transmission infrastructure, Bhatti laid out Telangana’s roadmap to upgrade its intra-state network with major investments in transmission lines and transformation capacity. He called for an integrated plan extending up to 2034–35 to meet energy demands.
On improving the operational efficiency of Discoms, he joined talks on reducing technical and commercial losses and improving financial sustainability. “Only financially healthy utilities can deliver reliable power and attract long-term investments,” he stressed.
Telangana’s progress in EV charging infrastructure was also detailed. Bhatti spoke about the state’s initiatives to ease connectivity for charging stations and its clear targets under the electric mobility roadmap. “We are working to ensure charging availability keeps pace with EV adoption,” he said.
Cybersecurity and grid resilience formed another core topic. The Deputy CM highlighted Telangana’s emphasis on emergency preparedness, digital monitoring systems and ensuring grid security in the context of growing cyber threats.
He spoke about Telangana’s plans for renewable energy expansion, particularly the development of pumped storage projects that enhance grid flexibility. “With a blend of traditional energy planning and forward-looking innovation, we are preparing Telangana to meet its energy needs,” he added.
Calling for stronger coordination between the Centre and states, Bhatti underlined that achieving national energy goals would require sustained collaboration, financial support and policy clarity across all levels.
