The Telangana government recently appointed producer Dil Raju as Chairman of the Film Development Corporation (FDC), and he has been actively taking up the Telugu film industry’s issues with the government. However, the Andhra Pradesh FDC chairman post remains vacant. Nearly a year has passed since the Chandrababu Naidu government took office, and a chairman has yet to be appointed.
According to a source, veteran producer AM Rathnam is expected to be appointed as the new Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation. The source revealed that Rathnam’s vast experience in filmmaking and his deep understanding of the industry’s challenges make him an ideal candidate. “It was Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan who suggested AM Rathnam’s name and CM Chandrababu Naidu immediately accepted it,” the source said. The government is expected to issue an official order in the coming days. AM Rathnam began his career as a makeup artist for actress Vijayashanti and made his debut as a producer with the 1990 film Karthavyam, which was a huge success. He later produced several blockbuster films, including Khushi, Peddarikam, Sankalpam, Indian, Boys, and 7G Brindavan Colony. His latest production, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, starring Pawan Kalyan, is set to release on June 12.
