The Minister for Revenue and Housing, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, said that Rs 68.08 crore has been provided for Indiramma houses till now.

The construction of Indiramma houses, which was undertaken to provide houses to the poor, is progressing, and housewarming will be held soon, said Ponguleti, after accepting the invitation of poor women, and going to housewarming functions wherever possible.

He said that despite the financial difficulties of the government due to the devastation caused by the BRS admin, as per the promise made to the poor, the government will release funds to beneficiaries every Monday, even if they are mortgaged.

“We will deposit the funds directly into the bank accounts of Indiramma beneficiaries,” he said.

Although there is government supervision in the construction of Indiramma houses, the government is not taking responsibility for the construction.

He said that beneficiaries have been given the option to build as per their ideas and according to their plot size, but the house must not be less than 400 square feet and not more than 600 square feet.
Ponguleti said the construction of Indiramma houses is underway in around 250 mandals, and that engineers should provide help to the beneficiaries in executing the construction.

On Monday, Ponguleti spoke to Indiramma house beneficiaries through video conference for an hour and a half from his office.

“I never dreamed that Indiramma house would come. We have been living in huts. Our children are growing up. It is not enough. We are living with what we have. We have been living in a rented house for many years. After the Congress government came, Indiramma house came to us. We laid a slab. They gave us Rs 4 lakh. We will complete the house in a few days. You should come with the CM for our housewarming. If you come, we will make jowar rotis, and we will also kill a goat for you. The CM is also giving us the rice that all of you eat. With that, we will serve food,” said Uma, a beneficiary from Khammam district.
