Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was unanimously re-elected as the national president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for another two-year term, on the second day of the party’s annual conclave, Mahanadu, held in YSR Kadapa district on Wednesday.

TDP senior leader and Election Committee Chairman Varla Ramaiah officially announced Naidu’s re-election before a massive gathering of party supporters. He stated that around 600 party leaders supported Naidu’s nomination and a dedicated election office had been set up for the internal polls. Ramaiah then administered the oath of office to the Chief Minister amid loud cheers from the crowd.

Naidu, who has led the party since 1995, continues to steer the TDP through critical phases of both State and national politics. His uninterrupted leadership marks nearly three decades at the party’s helm. Naidu’s re-election comes at a time when the party is gearing up to implement long-term developmental plans and consolidate recent electoral gains.

Addressing the gathering, Naidu thanked the party cadres for reposing faith in his leadership. “The TDP will exist as long as the Telugu people exist,” he declared, reaffirming his commitment to the party’s vision. He added that the Mahanadu convention had held in-depth discussions on six key resolutions and formulated a strategic plan for the next 40 years.

In a symbolic moment, Naidu’s re-election coincided with the 102nd birth anniversary of TDP founder NT Rama Rao (NTR). Paying rich tributes to his father-in-law, Naidu recalled NTR’s legacy as a legendary actor and transformative political leader who founded the TDP in 1982 on the slogan of Telugu self-respect. NTR had made history by becoming Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh just nine months after launching the party.

Naidu, who turned 75 last month, first assumed party leadership in 1995 and later became Chief Minister and now holds the post for the fourth time following the recent electoral victory of the TDP-led NDA alliance. Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior party leaders congratulated Naidu on his re-election.
