YSRCP State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has accused the TDP-led government in Andhra Pradesh of turning the state into a lawless zone, likening the situation to an undeclared Emergency. He alleged that a section of the police has been reduced to acting like a ‘private army’ for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh.
After visiting YSRCP worker Lakshminarayana, who is battling for life in a private Guntur hospital, Sajjala demanded a judicial probe by a sitting judge into the alleged police harassment that drove him to attempt suicide. He claimed that the businessman was humiliated, subjected to casteist slurs, and mentally tortured for his political affiliation.
Sajjala cited incidents of state-backed violence, including the alleged kidnapping of the Satavahana College principal by a TDP MLC, the public thrashing of youths in Tenali, custodial torture in Palnadu, and harassment of women activists, calling these a collapse of democratic order.
He said the YSRCP would approach the courts, the National Human Rights Commission, and the President of India to expose the misuse of police power and safeguard civil liberties.
