Small-budget films are gaining momentum at the box office these days, and joining the list is China Piece, a film with an intriguing spy backdrop. On Sunday, the makers released a teaser that presents the film as an action-packed spy drama.
The film is directed by Akki Vishwanath Reddy and features Nihal Kodhaty in the lead. Nihal, who previously appeared as a child artiste in nearly 20 films, shared, “I did all those films by bunking school, but I had fun while acting. I’ve now returned with strong belief in myself. This film took two years to complete, and I believe in hard work.”
Though he has played lead roles earlier in films like Butterfly, China Piece marks his first full-fledged lead film. “Great writing, strong emotions, and all the ingredients of a commercial entertainer—everything is there in this film,” said Nihal. As a fan of actor Sundeep Kishan, he invited him to launch the teaser.
The teaser suggests that the story is centered on a secret mission involving the leak of classified national defense data to enemy hands. Nihal’s character appears to be a patriot who ends up turning into a terrorist, making the narration gripping and suspenseful.
Actor Kamal Kamaraju, known for his selective roles, plays a key character. Director Vishwanath Reddy said, “Kamal shared his experience and contributed immensely to the film. It was a big challenge to make a patriotic film and still name it China Piece.”
