TS sets record in oil palm cultivation

Telangana is going to achieve a new milestone by March as the cultivation of oil palm is touching 1.2 lakh acres by March this year.Minister for Agriculture Singireddy Niranjan Reddy said that funds are available for oil palm plantation and that 38 oil palm plant nurseries in 1,502 acres by 11 oil palm companies have been set up. The Minister cut the cake and congratulated the officials and companies on the occasion of setting a record of 50,000 acres of oil palm plantation in one state of the country in just one year.

Telangana created a record of 52,000 acres of oil palm plantation in just one year. The plantation of 70,000 acres should be completed in the next three months. About a crore, of oil palm saplings, are available for planting in 2023-24. These are enough for another 1.5 lakh acres. Acquisition of 458 acres of land by Oil Fed for setting up processing mills is going on”, Niranjan Reddy said.

The government gave approval for allotment of land through TS IIC to Pre Unique and Matrix companies for setting up processing mills at Nirmal, Vanaparthi, and Mancherial. Scrutiny of bids for allotment of land for setting up processing mills to other companies is going on.

The Minister said that Agriculture and Horticulture Department officials should focus on promoting oil palm cultivation “Companies should conduct village-wise awareness meetings.

Training should be given in farmers’ forums. Farmers should be made aware and motivated to plant inter-crops until they get income from oil palm. The decision was taken to set up an oil palm research garden in Boppas Palli seed field of Kamareddy district”, Niranja said.
The authorities have been directed to examine the establishment of oil palm plantations in Nalgonda District Dindi Agricultural Field, Yella Reddy Constituency Mall Tummeda Seed Field of Kamareddy District.
