The Prakasam District Court on Wednesday pronounced capital punishment to the convict in the case pertaining to the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl. The inhumane incident happened in Giddaluru in July 8, 2021.

According to the police, a missing complaint had been filed with the Giddalur police by the girl’s father, who works as an auto driver. Police registered a case and formed special teams to trace the missing girl. The clues team and sniffer dogs were pressed to find out the culprit. The sniffers traced the girl’s footwear and a blood-stained blanket inside a house in the same street. Later, it was learnt that the house belonged to one Dudekula Siddaiah (30), who is the girl’s close relative. He was living separately from his wife.

However, the accused went absconding from the day of committing the crime. Connecting the dots, police nabbed the accused within three days. During the investigation, the accused confessed that when the girl was playing in front of her house with her friends, he lured her with money for chocolates, took her into his house, and committed rape. When she was screaming in pain, he hit her head against the cot’s frame. The girl received severe bleeding injuries and died on the spot.

The accused, fearing arrest, stuffed the girl’s body in a plastic cover, threw it into an underground drainage canal on the outskirts of the village, and fled.
