A group of youths of Gundrampalli village of Nalgonda district spending own money have established libraries in Telugu States for the benefit of students preparing for competitive examinations and others.
Because of technological advancements and mobile applications becoming popular with the youth, none is paying attention to books. But the youth of Gundrampalli have been providing furniture and 100-200 kinds of books for the library.
Youth leader of Gundram palli, Srinivas, said that the youth of the village are taking care of the library and noted that the libraries benefited many during the lockdown. During the period, the libraries functioned from morning to evening adhering to the Covid-19 protocol.
Magazines in the Gundrampalli library helped him and called the library a boon to the unemployed of the village, said Garise Anjaiah. Another visitor to the library, M Venkatesam, who drives an auto-rickshaw for a living, said that in the evenings he visits the library to read dailies and unwind himself from the hectic physical strain. He said that it has become a routine in his lifestyle.
