The Supreme Court on Thursday posted the hearing of the 3 capitals case on March 28. The Government of Andhra Pradesh’s counsel, Niranjan Reddy, requested the Apex Court that the Special Leave Petition (SLP) be heard, which was listed, from March 28 for three days.
Advocates appearing for the State, made a mention of the need for an early hearing of the batch of petitions related to the three capitals before the Division Bench, requesting that the cases be heard urgently, including on Wednesdays and Thursdays, keeping in view their importance, but Justice Joseph said they could instead try their luck with the Chief Justice of India (CJI) as the SLP and connected matters had already been posted for hearing on March 28.
Justice KM Joseph emphasised that the case involves crucial constitutional aspects and requires a detailed and in-depth hearing. Although the advocates of the AP government appealed to Justice Joseph to approach the Chief Justice of India, their request was denied. Despite the minor setback, the court has confirmed that the hearing will take place on March 28 as planned.
