Tennis star Sania Mirza brought laurels not only to Telangana but also to the nation by shining in national and international tennis, BRS Working President Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Ramarao said.
KTR said that Sania is a role model for everyone and that she said bid adieu to her career where she started it 22 years ago at the LB Stadium.
He said that it is painful that Sania is saying goodbye to tennis, but she has to train players like her in future.
KTR attended as chief guest at Sania Mirza’s farewell party held at the LB Stadium on Sunday. He said that he had watched the last match of Sania as per the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, Sports Minister V. Srinivas Goud said that Sania is a role model for women. He praised Sania stating that she became a world class player even though she was born in a middleclass family.
He said that Sania Mirza brought name and fame to the nation with her game and the medals she won.
He said that the Telangana government has been encouraging sports by providing grounds and that Telangana has given many sportspersons to the nation. Telangana needs the services of people like Sania, KTR added.
