Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy has inspected the airport metro alignment of about 1.3 km on Rajendranagar hillock on Wednesday along with his senior engineers.
An extremely undulating terrain full of steep heights, boulders and valley points, construction of airport metro viaduct on this hillock is going to be a challenging task, said NVS Reddy.
Climbing the steep inclines and boulders, the MD inspected the proposed alignment decisions such as since the gap between the Metro alignment and the ORR crash barrier edge is about 18 feet and the ORR is in deep cutting, protective barriers of sufficient strength and height shall be provided on the ORR side to ensure that no boulders will roll on to the ORR.
Boulder stabilisation mechanism shall be adopted in consultation with experts. Protective fencing shall be erected on the left side of the Airport Metro right of way to protect the metro viaduct from any possible antisocial activities.
Boundary survey stones shall be put in place in consultation with the HMDA to earmark the Airport Metro area from the adjacent private properties to prevent encroachments. Possibility of constructing the metro viaduct on stubs or low height pillars shall be examined to avoid/minimise cutting of rock.
Cross drains with hume pipes of adequate diameter shall be provided at the valley points of the temporary road built by HAML on the hillock to allow the rain water flows into the ORR drainage system and formation of the temporary road on the remaining stretch of about 300 meters on the hillock shall be completed in the next few days for facilitating the preconstruction activities.
HAML Chief Project Manager B Anand Mohan, GM M Vishnuvardhan Reddy, SE Y Sayapa Reddy, Dy CE (Railway) JN Gupta and other senior officers participated in the inspection.
