An Assistant Engineer Venkateswara Rao, AP State Housing Corporation Ltd, Therlam Mandal, Vizianagaram district, was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials for demanding and accepting bribe on Wednesday. On the complaint given by I Rama Krishna a farmer from Thalamraju Peta, Therlam Mandal, Vizianagaram, the ACB officials laid a trap and caught the accused officer.
A house was sanctioned to the complaint’s mother-in-law under Jagananna Housing Scheme. The officer demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe for sanctioned bills and to sanction pending bills under the Jagananna Housing Scheme. The complainant contacted ACB 14400 Toll-Free Number and later gave a complaint to the DSP, ACB, Vizianagaram.
A trap was laid against Venkatewara Rao, Asst. Engineer, on the instructions of DG, ACB, KV Rajendranath Reddy, the accused was nabbed by the ACB Officials while receiving the bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from the complainant on Wednesday at the AP State Housing Corporation Ltd, Therlam Mandal, Vizianagaram.
The accused was produced before the Court for SPE & ACB, Visakhapatnam.
So far, ACB has laid 23 traps on corrupt public servants in this year. The citizens are requested to avail of the service of 14400 ACB Mobile APP (or) 14400 Toll-Free Number to report activities of corrupt Government Officials so that prompt action can be taken.
