A 75-year-old woman was relieved of gold ornaments and mobile by a woman trickster in Nirmal town on Thursday. The old woman, Narsavva, lost a gold chain weighing 23.32 grams, two earrings weighing three grams, a mobile phone and spectacles.
According to police, an unidentified woman befriended the old woman at the Nirmal bus station when the latter was on her way to Waddyal village to visit her relative who took ill. The woman trickster waited at the bus station till the old woman returned from Wadyal village to go back to her village, Alur under Sarangapur mandal.
The woman trickster took the old woman to the Government hospital by promising to ensure the latter undergo medical tests. The trickster relived the old woman of gold ornaments, mobile phone and spectacles and fled.
As the old sat crying at the hospital, some passers-by came to her rescue and gave her some money. They also took her to the local police and helped her lodge a complaint with the police.
The police launched an investigation with the help of footage obtained from CCTV footage.
