Palamuru Ranga Reddy LIS to irrigate 12.50 lakh acres

Agriculture Marketing Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy said that the decade-long dream of the people of South Telangana is getting fulfilled through the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao’s Secretary Smitha Sabharwal and MP Ramulu inspected the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

The minister said that the foundation stone of the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme costing Rs 35,000 crore was laid by the Chief Minister on June 11, 2015, but due to technical reasons work got delayed.

Recently, after the inauguration of the secretariat, the Chief Minister directed engineers to review all irrigation projects and complete the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme fast.

After this, work on the Narlapur Reservoir pumping station of the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Scheme was inspected.

Niranjan said that a plan has been prepared to irrigate 12.50 lakh acres in Palamuru Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts through the Palamuru Rangareddy lifting scheme with 7 TMCs of Krishna River water.

He said that this scheme has been undertaken to meet the needs of the people of this region and to avoid water problems in future.

He said that work is in progress and that the electrical mechanical work at the Narlapur Reservoir was inspected by engineering teams.

He said that the decade-long dream of the people of this region will soon be fulfilled, if the Palamuru Rangareddy Scheme starts and South Telangana will become greener.

Later, CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal conducted a review of the irrigation project with officials of the Irrigation Department in Yedulu.

Nagar Kurnool MP Ramulu, Collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar, Nagar Kurnool Collector P. Uday Kumar, Irrigation ENC Muralidhar Rao, Advisor Penta Reddy, Nagar Kurnool Irrigation CE Hamid Khan, Megha company representative Umamaheshwar Reddy, district officers, Irrigation Department officers and public representatives attended the meeting.
