Cycling has made an undeniable comeback as a hobby. In recent years, more and more individuals have been choosing to set aside their motor vehicles in favour of bicycles due to their health benefits and eco-friendly nature. In a captivating new take on this, the Telangana State Forest Development Corporation (TSFDC) hosted over a 1,000 cyclists to embark on a journey through the serene greenery and refreshing breezes of the Palapitta Cycling Ride and Night Safari Park, which is set to be launched soon. The event was coordinated and organized by the Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) in conjunction with the World Cycling Alliance (WCA), on Sunday.
Prominent personalities like Vanteru Prathap Reddy, Chairman, TSFDC, Dr. Chandrashekar Redddy, MD, TSFDC, Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner, along with D V Manohar, First Vice-President of World Cycling Alliance, and Dr T Satyanarayana Reddy, President of Hyderabad Bicycling Club participated in the cycle ride.
The cycling ride was held in both the Palapitta Cycling Park (PCP) and Night Safari Park, which is opposite PCP and adjoining Botanical Garden. The Night Safari Park, which is not yet opened to the public, is a typical forest, and for the first and probably the only time, cyclists were permitted there.
Manohar mentioned that HBC won exclusive rights to operate the Palapitta Cycling Park. This one and only cycling park is spread over 37 acres of forest land with a lake and is abuzz with numerous peacocks and ducks. He further stated that HBC upgraded the cycling infrastructure at PCP. It is his mission to promote cycling not only in India but also all over the world in his capacity as First Vice President of WCA and relentlessly working on it.
