Hyderabad’s historic Kotwal office building in Purani Haveli will soon be restored to its former glory thanks to a restoration project launched by the Hyderabad City Police Administration. The building, which served as the office of the Kotwal since 1920 until its relocation in 2002, has been in a state of disrepair for many years. However, its historical significance to the city has prompted authorities to take action and preserve this heritage site.

At a ceremony held at the site, City Police Chief CV Anand unveiled a plaque to mark the start of the restoration project, which is being sponsored by Greenko company. The project will be carried out by Deccan Terrain Pvt, a company specializing in heritage building renovation, and will use traditional materials such as quick lime, hydrated lime, Raw Gum extracts, fibres, and other materials that were widely used a century ago.
The restoration work is expected to be completed within six months, and officials have expressed their happiness at being able to revive this important landmark. The building’s proximity to other iconic structures, religious places, and crowded areas has made it a popular location for key review meetings and monitoring events. The City Police Chief has stated that he and his predecessors have used the building for these purposes and that it is an essential part of the city’s history.
The restoration project has been welcomed by the local community, who are eager to see this historic site preserved for future generations. The successful completion of the project will be a testament to the City Police Administration’s commitment to conserving Hyderabad’s rich cultural heritage.
