Telangana has witnessed a significant rise in online orders, with a 40 per cent increase recorded in the fiscal year 2022, according to data from Unicommerce, an e-commerce enablement SaaS platform.
The analysis of over 28 million order items processed in the region revealed the changing trends in e-commerce adoption among consumers and businesses in Telangana.
According to the report, fashion and accessories emerged as the largest category with the highest order volume, reporting a growth rate of over 55 per cent in FY 2023 compared to the previous year. Beauty and personal care follow closely as the second most popular segment, experiencing a 20 per cent year-on-year order volume growth. The electronic peripherals and audio products category has also witnessed significant growth, with a 74 per cent increase in order volume in FY 2023. Additionally, home decor and kitchenware have seen a remarkable 50 per cent year-on-year order volume growth in the same period.
Hyderabad and Secunderabad stand out as the main hubs of online shoppers in the state, but consumers from other regions have also embraced online shopping. The data showcases the diverse range of categories being explored by Telangana consumers.
Moreover, the report stated that it is not just consumers who are embracing e-commerce; businesses in Telangana are also adopting online platforms. Unicommerce, which facilitates e-commerce operations for businesses, currently collaborates with over 60 companies from Telangana and manages more than 400 facilities for local and national brands in the state.

Further, the report revealed that smaller towns and cities in Telangana are also actively exploring e-commerce and embarking on their online journeys. Sellers from Hyderabad as well as towns like Warangal and Karimnagar are adopting technology and connecting with consumers across India and internationally.
