Wild bear enters human habitat, rescued after five-hour operation

A large bear strayed into the human habitats in Suryapeta town on Saturday night and created among people. The people heaved a sigh of relief at last after the rescue team succeeded in capturing the bear after five hours of operation.

Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy, who supervised the operation, patted the officials for rescuing the wild animal without any injuries to it. 

The authorities had a gruelling experience in catching the bear which strayed into the town. 

The bear at first appeared in a house under construction behind the D-Mart store at Srinivasa Nagar on Saturday night. It created a sensation in the town. 

According to reports, at first, it entered the house of one Pinni Srinivas in the area. Alarmed at the sight of the bear, the family members of Srinivas raised an alarm. Scared by shouting by the family members, the bear entered another belonging to Gundagani Ramulu. 

The locals tipped about it to the Forest and police personnel. 

The Forest Department deployed a team from Warangal to rescue the animal. The rescue team worked hard for five hours and at last managed to nab it. They dispatched a rescue van to release it in the woods. 

Jagadish Reddy, who was surprised about it, enquired about the possibility of a bear straying into the town. The Forest officials told the Minister the bear that was rescued today was the same one that strayed into Tirumalagiri nine months ago. 

Quoting the locals, the forest officials said that the bear had been roaming freely in Arvapalli and its surrounding areas. By the time, the forest officials went there to catch the animal, it managed to give them a slip. However, the forest personnel have now managed to capture the animal.
