Machilipatnam Port works to be completed in 30 months

Industries and Commerce Department Special Chief Secretary R Karikal Valaven has claimed that the State government is ahead in providing robust facilities towards increasing ports and maritime-related wealth compared to other States in the country.

In view of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Machilipatnam for performing Bhumi Puja on May 22 to start the Machilipatnam Port works, Karikala Valven visited the port construction area, pylon construction area and helipad along with Krishna District Collector P Raja Babu on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Special CS said that the first phase of the Machilipatnam Port works would be completed in 30 months. The port would be spruced up beautifully by this, around 25,000 people are likely to get employment, he added.

He further said that the government was also constructing road cum rail facilities by linking all the ports for improving logistics. He hoped that the State would be more developed in matters of industrial and economic development.

The Krishna Collector said that the Chief Minister was going to fulfil the district’s long-cherished dream of the Machilipatnam Port. He said that the port would have a handling capacity of 80,000 MT of ships, too.

Machilipatnam Port Managing Director Vidya Sankar, MEGA projects head Tulasi Das, RDO I Kishore and others accompanied the Special CS.
