Young actress Abhigyna Vuthaluru’s Geetha Subramanyam 3, has already released, and the actress is happy that a lot of Gen Z is acknowledging it. “They are the future of this generation; calling me a bright actress feels like an acquisition of life,” she said, speaking to The Pioneer.
This romantic entertainer also has Supraj Ranga. So we had a brief interaction with the leading lady, and here is the interview. “If you know of me, you know it’s been three years of me on YouTube. I have experienced the good and the bad — a mix of both worlds. Like a typical YouTuber, my career didn’t take off really well. The reliability wasn’t that high! The fans started to see me as someone close to them but not as a star, and that used to crush me a little bit. All I knew was that my end journey is to make it to films,” she said.
In fact, what actually started to happen with her was that so many actors started to approach her and were curious to know why Abhignya was being so intimate with a YouTube channel, since that could take away really good opportunities from her for the films she could have been a part of! The deciding factor was a familiar face. The actress counters this, saying, “These apprehensions started to take over my head; I became a little intimidated. I am glad that only after an aha movie do they see me as an actress now! Just two days ago, I had a meeting with renowned actors, and it’s like a dream come true for any debutant to not introduce themselves amongst such huge stars.
It was really a big deal for me! I’m just hoping to not take too much of it on my head again.” and she laughed heartily and continued, “This industry is very glitzy and glamorous. I can be replaced at any moment! But an interview with Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a lot of sense to me. So the criticism has been preparing me all this time! Although, in reality, I am a very sensitive girl. There are so many emotions being carried on the rim, and they do get to me. Especially when they character shamed me!”
Having made her debut as an actress, Abhignya now feels: “Honestly, I think it’s my time to shine. I would die to work with Swapna Cinema. I would die to work on these kinds of movies. They are so lovely; the characters are so lovely.”
So this proves that the sleazy comments were delivered, but Abhignya focused on just building herself as an artist and not focusing on the negative at all. Because that’s not her final destination, ya? She recalled, “When I was with Chai Bisket, I was the only female employee back then. That made me realise there were no gender differences, even if I was the only woman employee there. I was treated the same! We were taking rotational turns in editing and content writing. And I made the most of my designation to change how men perceive women from the outer world.”
Telling us a little bit about her character in Geeta Subramaniam, she recollected, “What I realised on the sets was a lot of the writings were inspired by the director’s personal life. We were at a press conference where he revealed how a lot of men’s lives cannot be guided without the guidance of sharp women. Even though I believe so, we add a lot of vibrance. So there cannot be any gender roles when writing a romantic story. For example, when Shekhar Kammula writes female characters, he is so clear in his vision to not publicise them as objects! That kind of direction moves me, w
She brought an interesting segment before us because of this, highlighting how these directors could be actually romanticising women to be in their respective lives with some power and texture. Or, “The theme that we are touching upon in the series is something we as a society should work on. Personal life is different, and professional life is different. Now let’s imagine that if I have to cancel a shoot because of a personal commitment, how will that reflect on me? But I am a very old-school girl, and I am still very positive about the modern dating scene.
It’s actually a good time for girls.” Wonder why? She said, “We can explore many options around us.” For so many years, we didn’t know what the importance of physical pleasure was to us. Finally, I understood that “love also means this”. Or take the example of our elders, like my “pinni,” who wouldn’t know of all of this. Now they have the freedom to choose.”
She has seen how nobody wants to stick around; nobody wants to fix what’s broken in a relationship, but whatsoever, “I am an actor now, condensing myself these days. Learning the technicalities so well, especially in the styling department. The characters can be promoted by the way you look! Adding hair extensions here and there, or the nitty-gritty, made styling so much fun for me. Then I realised I am so good with lines, so that boosted most of my confidence to be an even better actor.”
