The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Thursday launched the General Route Pass, passengers commuting within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) can avail the service. The pass will be available from May 27.
The TSRTC has designed this route pass for those traveling short distances. The pass will be applicable within 8 km. It is to be noted that the corporation also provides services such as  T-24, T-6 and F-24  tickets to passengers.
The Ordinary Route Bus Pass is priced at Rs 600. The price for Metro Express Route Pass is Rs 1,000, it will be valid for one month. An additional fee of Rs 50 has to be paid for the ID card. First, this pass will be given to passengers on 162 routes in Hyderabad. The company has provided an unlimited number of buses within the 8 km radius of these route passes. You can travel with this pass on Sundays as well as holidays.
The price for Ordinary Bus Pass is Rs1150 and Metro Express Bus Pass is Rs1300. These passes can be used to travel from anywhere in all buses plying within the city suburban area. The survey conducted by the organisation revealed that only those going to distant places are buying these passes. It has been found that employees and small traders traveling short distances are reaching their destinations by alternative routes instead of buses.
“TSRTC has already announced several concessions to reduce the financial burden on commuters in Greater Hyderabad. T-24, T-6, F-24 tickets have been made available. These services have received good response from the public. In this background, the company has launched General Route Pass to reach more passengers. We are giving route passes only to students in the state. For the first time, the organisation has decided to give it to common passengers. Usually, it is Rs 800 for Ordinary Route Pass and Rs1200 for Metro Express Route Pass. With a discount of Rs 200 in the initial context, we are offering City Ordinary Route Bus Pass for Rs 600 and Metro Express Route Pass for Rs1000. Currently,” TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govarthan, MD VC Sajjanar, said in a statement.
