Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and MLC Surabhi Vani Devi inspected the nala works at Brahmanwadi in Begumpet on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor bdirected the officials to complete the nala works before the monsoon advances. The Mayor said that Brahman wadi, Mayur Marg, Prakash Nagar, AllamthotaBavi and Vaddera Basthi in Begumpet were prone to submersion during the monsoon. Hence, an amount of of Rs 45 crore was sanctioned under SNDP works to takle up the nala works immediately.
She directed the officials to strengthen the nala retaining walls and construct new ones wherever necessary. She said that the VDCC road being constructed at a cost of Rs 39 crore from Bhahmanwadi to Githanjali School should be completed at the earliest.
The Mayor visited the Swami Ramananda Teertha Trust and directed the officials to see that water is diverted from there to the nala by building gates. She enquired about the summer camp being conducted for the students at the Trust. She garlanded the portrait of former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao at the trust office.
Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, SNDP SI BHaskar Reddy and EE Water Works Praveen accompanied the Mayor during the inspection.
