Allegations of harassment by women against BRS leaders are increasing all over Telangana. The party has not taken any serious action or issued any statement against any of its legislators facing charges of harassment.
On Tuesday, Sarpanch Navya once again levelled allegations against Station Ghanpur MLA Tatikonda Rajaiah that he is pressuring his followers to give audio records regarding the sexual harassment allegations she had made earlier.
She said that he was exerting pressure on her through his middlemen to compromise by offering Rs 20 lakh. Navya said that even though she complained to the police against MLA Rajaiah along with her husband the police ignored their complaints.
On Monday, allegations of sexual harassment against a Hyderabad MLA came out. The MLA reportedly harassed a woman GHMC councillor using flirty words.
The woman brought this to the notice of the top leadership including phone call records. The BRS tried to settle the matter internally. The BRS policy of not taking action or even issuing a statement when such allegations are raised has taken political analysts by surprise. A fortnight ago in New Delhi one Sejal, the director of Origin Dairy Company, attempted suicide by consuming poison. She said that she was harassed by Bellampally BRS MLA Durgam Chinnaiah and his followers.
This apart the video of Tandur MLA partying with drinks circulated in social media extensively. Political analysts believe that for a party which is already facing anti-incumbency such issues will only cause more problems.
