Although BJP leaders including Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh have declared that there is no question of changing the post of the Telangana BJP president, Telangana BJP leaders and cadres have been discussing seriously the possibility of the state BJP President being changed.
BJP leaders and cadres are saying that Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s name has been almost finalized for the post and that they are getting hints regarding this from the high command.
One Telangana BJP leader said that BJP National Executive Committee Member Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender’s rising prominence in the party is a clear confirmation of changing the Telangana BJP President. The leader said that the party may announce its decision before Prime Minister Modi’s Warangal tour.
Another BJP leader said that the high command might have taken this decision to protect leaders who joined the BJP from other political parties like Eatala Rajender. He said that if the state party president is changed it may create problems for the party.
“Some may be happy with the change of guard but some may feel unhappy. I don’t know why the high command has been behaving in this manner instead of clearly announcing officially about a change of guard,” he said.
The situation has reached such a stage that party leaders and cadres are not in a position to believe Telangana BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh’s statement that there will be no change in the president’s post. The situation has reached such a stage that Modi himself has to give a clear statement on changing the Telangana BJP president.
The high command’s dithering has been severely affecting the party, a BJP activist from Medchal district said. The people are now having severe doubts about the BJP brass and its ‘no clear’ stand is eroding the party’s base in the state, he said. “We have to wait and see what will happen in July,” he said.
