A female medico of a private medical college committed suicide in her hostel room on Sunday. Chaitanya (23), a house surgeon, hanged herself in her hostel room at Narayana Medical College in Nellore. The deceased Chaitanya hails from Palasa in the Srikakulam district and got married to a man from the Vizianagaram district a few weeks ago.
The police stated that Chaitanya is a house surgeon and got married three months ago. Her husband who completed his graduation in Medicine is now pursuing post-graduation in a medical college in Vizianagaram. During the past few weeks, there have been conflicts between the couple, and under these circumstances, the couple had a heated argument on Saturday night. Later, Chaitanya told her mother in Palasa over the phone that she was committing suicide as she was not unable to put up with her husband.
The worried mother immediately informed Chaitanya’s friends. When her friends came to the room and knocked on the door Chaitanya did not open for a long time. The hostel warden and the other staff were informed. They broke the door and noticed that Chaitanya was hanging from the ceiling fan. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment where the doctors confirmed that she was brought dead. The hospital staff immediately conveyed this information to Chaitanya’s parents.
The police seized Chaitanya’s phone and started an investigation based on the calls and messages. The police said that the preliminary investigation revealed that Chaitanya committed suicide due to disputes with her husband.
