The BJP leadership has removed Kapu and Munnuru Kapu leaders Somu Veerraju and Sanjay as presidents of the party’s Andhra Pradesh and Telangana units.

In their place, the party appointed Daggubati Purandeshwari, a Khamma, as the President of the Andhra Pradesh unit and G. Kishan Reddy, a Reddy, as the President of the Telangana BJP.

Both Purandeshwari and G. Kishan Reddy are from the upper castes and these communities are considered the ‘ruling class.’

Both Kishan and Purandeshwari will get recognition if the party performs well at the polls.

Somu Veerraju and Sanjay resigned as per the directions of BJP President JP Nadda.

He phoned Somu Veerraju and he resigned.

However, Sanjay resigned only after having a discussion with Nadda for one-and-a-half hours in New Delhi.

A BC leader of the BJP from Telangana said on condition of anonymity that the BJP is following the same rule as family-based parties.

He said that Sanjay worked hard to take the party to the grassroots but he was scapegoated and lost his post at the time of elections.

He said the fate of Sanjay reminds him of the adage ‘Snakes in Termite Hill.’

Somu may not be a BC but his community never enjoyed power in united Andhra Pradesh as well as in the present AP.In fact, the followers of both leaders Sanjay (Munnuru Kapu) and Somu Veerraju (Kapu) had believed that the high command may not remove them as elections are very near.Telangana BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh and the new incumbent Kishan Reddy too said that the high command had no thoughts of changing Sanjay.

Even Nadda too had said many times that the BJP will face Assembly elections under the leadership of Sanjay.

However, the BJP high command gave a shock to the followers of both Sanjay as well as Somu Veerraju by removing them from the president posts of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh BJP units.
