BRS cadres are confused over whether their prime opponent is the BJP or the Congress. All these days the BRS was going all out attacking Prime Minister Modi and the BJP. Now due to changing equations after the Congress win in Karnataka, there is confusion among BRS cadres.
BRS President KCR has not talked about Modi in his recent speeches, but the BRS Working President, KTR, had lashed out at not only against the Centre but at the BJP too. Senior BRS leaders said that there is definitely some confusion but it won’t impact elections. “Generally at the constituency level barring a few, it is always a two-way fight. So at constituency levels, people can directly target their main opponent. If there is any change in the strength then the high command will be informed. Our main opponent seems to be the Congress at the moment,” BRS sources said. The Chief Minister who earlier used to seek support for the BRS becoming a national party, now seeks support on the Dharani issue.
Political analysts believe that as elections near, the focus will be on local issues and hence Dharani has come into the picture and Adani etc have taken the backseat.
Even on Thursday KTR called out the Modi government in his tweets. He said, “The Central Govt says job vacancies are scaling new peaks. By 2004, that is during the time when ‘India was shining’ the Central government vacancies stood at 12.1%. During the “Policy Paralysis and huge corruption charges against the Manmohan government Central service vacancy was approximately 11%. During the “Acche Din” time of Modi, it touched almost 25%. And still SAB CHANGASI,” KTR said.
A BRS leader said that the message is to take development to the people instead of countering the opposition. KTR himself said, “While our opponents are busy planning for the next election, our KCR is busy building infrastructure for the next generation.” A BRS leader said, “We will be the opposition but our focus will be taking forward the development of these nine years which we have already done through Atmeeya Sammela nams and Dashbadhi celebrations. The same is being continued.”
