BRS to ‘boycott’ Modi’s visit again
PNS|Hyderabad
Alleging that the NDA government at the Centre has been following “anti-Telangana” policies in the last nine years, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao said that his party would “boycott” Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the state on Saturday.
Speaking about the NDA alliance, KTR said, “How will Chandrababu Naidu, who insulted Modi four years ago, attend NDA meeting? Chandrababu should tell what Modi has done for Andhra Pradesh in the last four years. He should also tell what good Modi has done for AP and TS in the last nine years.”
KT Rama Rao, the son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, said that Modi had an anti-Telangana mentality after he became the Prime Minister in 2014.
No promise made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act has been fulfilled by the Centre, he said.
Modi had laid the foundation stone for a Rs 20,000 crore rail coach factory at Dahod in Gujarat a year ago, but gave only a wagon manufacturing unit with an outlay of Rs 521 crore for Warangal, he said.
A railway coach factory was promised to be set up in Telangana as per the AP Reorganisation Act, he said.
“For Gujarat, Rs 20,000 crore coach factory. But for Telangana just Rs 521 crore as if alms are being given,” he told reporters here.
As a private company has set up a rail coach factory in Telangana with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, Telangana would not accept if the Modi government establishes a factory with just Rs 521 crore, said KTR.Although the state government had provided 300 acres for setting up a tribal university near Warangal, it has not been sanctioned so far, he said. Establishing a tribal university is an assurance mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act.
He said that Modi had insulted the “birth of Telangana” by saying that the Congress gave birth to a child (Telangana) but killed its mother (Andhra Pradesh).
He also spoke about the alleged communal trouble during Modi’s time at the helm.
“We have all decided. Definitely, none of us will attend his (Modi) visit tomorrow as his move to give Rs 520 crore, as if giving alms, is an insult to Telangana. Definitely, we will boycott. We will not attend his programme,” he said.
Revanth said that Dharani is in foreign hands, but the Congress party is also in foreign hands.
He said, “Why didn’t TS Congress President Revanth Reddy fail to say even a word about the BJP? Revanth is shielding Modi and the BJP by remaining silent. That’s why we said Godse is now in Gandhi Bhavan. Revanth is a 100% RSS, BJP man.”
Asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the BRS at a recent public meeting at Khammam in Telangana, KTR asked in what capacity is Rahul making policy announcements.
“Rahul comes here and makes policy statements. In what capacity, is he making the statements? Is he the president of the Congress? Is he the president of the Congress unit in Telangana? Is he even an MP,” he said.
“The people of Telangana know the history of the Congress from Rahul Gandhi’s great grandfather to Rahul, the Congress which harassed and ate Telangana like vultures for 55 years. The people of Telangana do not believe as the old vultures are coming back in new guises now,” he said.
Rahul had recently dubbed the BRS as the “B Team of the BJP.”
Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for infrastructure projects worth around Rs 6,100 crore in Warangal on Saturday.
He would also visit the famous Bhadrakali Temple in the district and would also address a public meeting.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the railway wagon manufacturing unit at Kazipet costing around Rs 500 crore.
The modern unit will have more manufacturing capacity for wagons. It will help employment generation and the development of ancillary units nearby, an official release said.
