A HDFC bank ATM in Nacharam has let down the customers due to a technical problem forcing the bank officials to shut the ATM centre pending repairs to the machine.
According to reports, when a person went to the ATM centre and drew Rs 1,000 what he got was only Rs 200. In another incident, the person who sought to withdrew Rs 8,000 from the machine, but he got only Rs 600. This has surprised the locals.The customers who have failed to withdraw the amount lodged a complaint with the officials.
The bank staff immediately rushed to the ATM centre to identify the fault. The bank officials closed the ATM centre till further orders.
An ATM technician visited the ATM centre. The bank customers have questioned the technician the reason behind the machine letting them down. Several customers have failed to withdraw the required amount. Therefore, they have been protesting near the machine.
When confronted by several customers, the ATM technician apparently behaved in a high-handed manner with the customers.
An irate technican was understood to have told the customers that he was helpless and advised the customers to contact the bank officials. Several customers were seen entering into arguments with the technicians.
The bank officials have been probing the technical defect in the machine.
