Officials directed to take steps to ensure no school dropout

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh directed the officials concerned to ensure that there should be no school dropouts in the district.
The Collector conducted a surprise inspection of Kasturba girls high school here on Wednesday. The Collector along with the DEO inspected the school as part of a special drive.

The Collector inquired with the officials about the school dropouts and whereabouts of them. Talking to the school teachers the Collector directed them to conduct counseling to the parents of the dropout students and ensure that they come to school again. He asked the teachers to lay special focus on bringing the school dropouts to school for the next three days. He also asked them to collect information if the dropout children have migrated to other areas.

The Collector directed the DEO to take action if any official found indifference in the matter. He asked him to submit a report on school dropouts. He asked the teachers to meet the parents of the school dropout and send a photo to him. If there is any problem bringing the school dropouts to school again, the teachers should meet the parents in a team to convince them.

Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said that the government has ordered a Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) programme Wednesday to bring dropouts to schools.

Special focus should be laid on the students who failed 10 th class and Intermediate examinations, he told the officials. Education is must to all as it helps to eradicate poverty and helps to reach heights in life, he stated. The Collector said that the government is implementing many schemes especially for the students including Amma Vodi, Vidya Kanuka and Vasati Deeven and asked the students to excel in studies by using the schemes.
