Telangana will be focussing on increasing the cultivation of vegetables. Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, State Rythubandhu Samiti President MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao held a review meeting on vegetable cultivation at the Agriculture Minister’s Conference Hall in the Secretariat.
The Minister said, “A report should be submitted once again on the monthly consumption, cultivation, production and cultivation by small farmers. Focus on the changing needs of vegetable cultivation.”
He said that the focus should be on what measures should be taken on vegetable seed prices, vegetable prices and the facilities required by farmers for vegetable cultivation.
“Find out the steps to be taken to store vegetables. Plans should be studied separately keeping long-term benefits and short-term benefits in mind. Find what should be done to increase vegetable cultivation in the surrounding areas of Hyderabad and in the surrounding areas of the new district headquarters,” he told officials.
Niranjan said instructions should be given on the basic facilities required for cultivation.
“The practices followed in other states for cultivating vegetables should be studied. A detailed report and recommendations on all these should be submitted to the government. We will draw up a comprehensive plan for vegetable cultivation in the state after bringing it to the attention of Chief Minister KCR,” he said.
