Smart City Mission project works to be expedited

Minister for Animal Husbandry Seediri Appalaraju has directed the officials to speed up the execution of various projects taken up at a cost of Rs 978 crore under smart city mission in the Kakinada Urban Assembly constituency.

The Minister said that 52 projects had already been completed as against the total of 71 projects taken up, and every effort should be made to complete them expeditiously and make them operational.

The Minister reviewed the progress of developmental and welfare programmes in the urban constituency at a meeting held at the Collectorate with the officials and non officials here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said work on Kalakshethram, the science centre, and the skating rink was in its final stage and needed to be completed on mission mode.

Appalaraju said that he would be taking up the review of one constituency every week under the instructions of the Chief Minister. He said in the urban constituency alone, 30,000 house site pattas were distributed, acquiring an extent of 650 acres. Under `Navarathnalu-Houses to poor’ programme, he asked the officials to complete the construction of 16,621 houses already grounded in Komaragiri and AP Trayam layouts.
