Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud has felt that Panduga Sayanna strove for the well-being of the Bahujans and fought for the poor among the Bahujans.
Speaking after unveiling the statue of Panduga Sayanna at Green Belt Colony here on Sunday, the Minister described Sayanna as the leader who looted the landlords and fed the poor. Therefore, everyone should respect such persons, he added.
The Minister said that the government is developing the town in tune with the ideals of Sayanna. Many have been working for empowering the Bahujans and quota for them, he said, adding that Sayanna looted the zamindars to feed the poor. Achievements of such persons were not brought to the light till now. However, their greatness will be known across the state today, he said.
He said that the government is developing the district for the equal well-being of all sections of society. He said that a Mudiraj Community Bhavan would be built in Mahabubnagar at a cost of Rs 3 crore. Similarly, such bhavans would be built for Gowdas, Padmashalis and all other communities.
Vice-chairman of the Legislative Council Banda Prakash Mudiraj said that the life of Sayanna was worth emulating. He did not work for his caste but to drive away starvation from society. He looted the rich to feed the poor. He was described as Telangana Robinhood. He said that Sayanna’s statues would be installed at Shad Nagar, Mahabubnagar, Nawabpet and in Gajwel too.
