Minister for Agriculture Kakani Govardhana Reddy inaugurated the AP State Sub-junior Badminton Championship 2023 here on Sunday. The badminton tournament is being organised by the Nellore Badminton Association.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government is giving priority to encouraging players and organizing games. The government initiated the ‘Adudam Andhra’ programme in order to encourage sports and players in the state, he observed.
Minister Govardhan Reddy said that Nellore district has hosted many state and international level sports and it is appreciable that NUDA Chairman and Simhapuri Sports Foundation Chairman Mukkala Dwarkanath initiated to hold the Andhra Pradesh State Sub Junior Badminton Championship-2023 today.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched Adudham Andhra programme to organize many sports competitions from village level to district level to promote all kinds of sports with special focus on the sports sector, he added.
The NUDA Chairman said that sports are being promoted under the auspices of Simhapuri Sports Foundation with the aim of encouraging players from the village level to the district level and bringing a good identity to the district in the field of sports. He said that 250 badminton players from 13 districts are taking part in the event.
