Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader and former minister Prathipati Pulla Rao has alleged that the development works in Chilakaluripet have come to a halt during the YSRCP regime and lift irrigation schemes were not functioning due to the failure of government.

Pulla Rao, along with other TDP leaders, visited the protected drinking water project at Pasumarru and Shadikhana near here on Monday. They took a selfie photo in front of the pylon.Talking to the media, Pulla Rao said that the protected drinking water project had been completed 90 per cent during the TDP regime but the YSRCP government had failed to complete the 10 percent of works.

He said that the protected drinking water project at Pasumarru was taken up at a cost of Rs 6 crore during the TDP rule with the funds extended by the NABARD. But the YSRCP has failed to complete the drinking water project and supply drinking water, he slammed.

“If the drinking water project is completed, protected drinking water can be supplied to 12,000 people. Minister Vidadala Rajini has no interest to complete the project and supply protected water and the minister should feel ashamed of that,” he lashed out.

Minister Vidadala Rajini has focused only on amassing huge wealth through unfair means. The contractors have stopped all works since they have not been paid money for the works they carried out. The RO plant was also left unused for a long time but recently the plant was revived, he flayed.

“The YSRCP regime has abandoned two lift schemes. During the TDP regime in 1999-2004, the then TDP government had taken up one of the biggest lift irrigation schemes in the constituency at a cost of Rs 11.5 crore to provide water to 6,000 acres and completed it successfully. During the YSRCP regime several lift irrigation schemes were not functioning due to lack of maintenance,” Prathipati Pulla Rao lamented.

During the TDP regime a shadikhana construction works began and a slab was also constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh but the YSRCP has not completed the same so far. All the bars and restaurants in Chilakaluripet are in the name of Minister Rajini’s family members, he alleged.
