District Collector P Prashanthi has directed the officials concerned to expedite the grounding works of Pradhana Mantri Matyasa Sampada (PMMS) scheme to provide the benefits of the scheme to the beneficiaries at the earliest.

The second meeting of the District Level Committee of Pradhanmantri Matyasa Sampada (PMMS) scheme was held under the chairmanship of District Collector P Prashanthi at the camp office on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that due to the delay in PMMS grounding, the beneficiaries are not getting the benefits. The Collector expressed anger at the officials of the fisheries department for the delay in the grounding.

Collector Prashanthi strongly warned that if this situation continues, action would be taken against the officials responsible. She also expressed her impatience that the implementation of the scheme has been reviewed many times but there is no progress and the performance of the Fisheries Department is not proper in all aspects.

“Under this scheme, beneficiaries should be identified and grounding should be undertaken on a large scale for providing ice boxes, boats, nets, marine boat activities and setting up kiosks. They should be extended subsidized loans through DCCB and Stri Nidhi. In the first phase, 200 beneficiaries were targeted and 223 have been identified. Out of them, loans have been granted to 181 beneficiaries, 50 have been grounded and another 19 are in the process of being grounded,” the Collector asserted.

Collector Prashanthi said that subsidy has been given to 34 people and 41 applicants were removed due to various reasons. She asked the Fisheries department officials why the 30 applications under DCCB and 68 applications under Stri Nidhi have not been received for grounding so far.

The District Collector directed the Fisheries Department officials to take action for 151 fish selling outlets, 20 two-wheelers, 10 three-wheelers, 9 four-wheeler container vehicles and 16 fish restaurants (for Rs.10 lakh and Rs.20 lakh units). She also directed the officials to expedite the process of grounding mini-fish retail outlets and take steps to make them available to the buyers.

ZP CEO KVS R Ravikumar, Fisheries officer RVS Prasad, district agriculture officer Z Venkateswara Rao and Fisheries AND Anana Rao were among those who were present.
