Senior leader Dr Cheruku Sudhakar has filed a plea in the High Court regarding flood relief measures. The court heard this on Saturday. The court asked for a report regarding the steps taken to provide relief for people in flood-hit areas.
The High Court asked, “How many people died in the floods? Has compensation been paid to those families?
Have the residents of flooded areas been moved to safer areas and what facilities are provided in rehabilitation centres? Have arrangements been made for flood monitoring and assistance?”
The High Court not only posed many questions to the KCR government but also issued orders saying that a report with complete details should be submitted by July 31.
When war rooms are being set up for elections why can’t a war room be set up to tackle floods, the court asked.
Advocate Chikudu Prabhakar told the court that people living near irrigation dams are living in fear. The High Court directed the government to take action as per the Dam Conservation Act.
