Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday visited the low-lying areas affected by the recent rains and accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of failing to alert the people in spite of the repeated warnings of the heavy rains by the Met office.
Because of the government failure, the people across the State have been facing severe problems, he said, alleging that the KCR government threw the administration to winds.
Claiming to be a witness to the travails of the people living in Vengal Rao colony near Munneru Vagu in the city, he pointed out that no government official visited the area to assess the damage due to rains and no assistance was given to people who lost everything.
He advised the Chief Minister to make the official machinery to swing into action to improve the lot of the people and wanted the Chief Minister to ensure that it worked for the people but not for the BRS party.
He appealed to officials to tour the flood-hit areas and assess the loss due to rains and ensure that the flood victims get suitable compensation.
