Vehicular traffic restored between Vijayawada & Hyd

After a three-day suspension, vehicular traffic, including RTC buses, between Vijayawada and Hyderabad National Highway, has been restored as of Saturday. The traffic movement had been suspended due to the overflowing of the Munneru tributary on the NHAI.

The NTR Police and Revenue department officials took preventive steps and halted traffic in advance, leading to long queues of vehicles on the NHAI for three days. However, once the Munneru floodwaters receded, the police officials permitted the resumption of traffic on the National Highway.

Meanwhile, the toll plaza staff at Keesara conducted cleaning activities on the NHAI road to clear the accumulated mud. They placed warning boards on the road to alert motorists about the ongoing cleaning activity towards Ithavaram. Moreover, the flood discharge from the Prakasam Barrage has caused difficulties for residents of various Lanka villages downstream in the Krishna district. In Pamullanka of Thotlavalluru mandal, people had to use boats to cross River Krishna and reach Thotlavalluru. Despite the challenges, they managed to access agricultural fields via these boats.
