The Film and Television Promotion Council (FTPC) of India, led by its president Chaitanya Janga, and its executive committee are planning to organise the Indo-Sri Lankan Cinema Exchange Summit in the month of September with an aim to enhance the partnership between the Sri Lankan and Indian film industries. This summit will be organised by connecting the artistic skills, creativity and technologies of both the countries. Sri Lankan government leaders, film personalities, film artists, technical experts and representatives of 24 crafts will participate in this summit. FTPC India is working to connect the Indian and Sri Lankan film industries by participating in this summit, said Chaitanya Janga.
Earlier, the FTPC executive committee visited Sri Lanka to organize the Indo-Sri Lanka Cinema Exchange Summit 2023.
Chaitanya and committee members said that during their visit, they met with several eminent figures, including Sri Lankan State Minister of Trade, Commerce & Food Security, Sathasivam Viyalanderan, Member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Vajira Abeywardena, Nalin Perera, Director General – of the Ministry of Tourism and Land, and Chandana Wickramaratne, Inspector General of Police, along with other dignitaries.
FTPC India’s president, Chaitanya Janga stated that the Indo-Sri Lanka Summit is planned to take place in Colombo in the coming months, with immense support from the Sri Lankan government. Secretary of FTPC India, VS Varma Pakalapati stated that FTPC India is diligently working towards organizing further summits, including the Indo-Bangla, Indo-Malaysia, and Indo-Dubai Emirate summits, one after the other.
Chaitany and Varma said that the primary objective of this visit was to extend opportunities in the film and tourism industries between the two nations. They further said that the Sri Lankan ministers expressed their delight at the initiative to bolster the Sri Lankan film industry and eagerly embraced the idea of exchanging technology, business collaborations, and promotional activities.
