As many as 30 villages still remain submerged in floodwater and road connectivity is cut off to these places. The villagers are using country boats to go to nearby towns and mandal kentra. A large number of students were seen going to schools and colleges on the country boats from the villages.
The heavy inflows to the river Godavari and its tributaries, Sabari and Vasista continued on Sunday also. Road connectivity to Telangana and Chattisgarh was also disrupted due to heavy flooding to the river Godavari and Sabari.
The most affected are the island villages which were surrounded by Godavari flood water. The villagers of Burugullanka, G Pedapudilanka and Arigilavaripeta were taking risk to reach their villages by sailing on the swirling Vasishta river flood water on boats.
The villagers of K Yenugupalli were wading through the two feet flood water some distance and travelling some distance on tractors to reach the main road. The flood water was overflowing on the Vedurubeedam causeway. Tottaramudi, Pedalanka and Veeravallipalem villages were under two feet of water.
Horticulture crops including plantain, Papaya and guava and vegetable crops were badly affected in thousands of acres as the flood water submerged them in Konaseema and ASR district. The Godavari flood water was overflowing on the causeway on Appanapalli-Pasarlapudi road in Mamidikuduru mandal. The farmers expressed concern that sand might accumulate in the fertile lands.
The cattle grazers said they were facing difficulty to find fodder for their cattle as the entire area under the sheet of flood water. The cattle grazers brought their buffaloes to the embankments to avoid being washed away in the swirling flood water. Official sources said that 71 flood relief camps were set up in Konaseema district.
The Godavari and Sabari rivers flood water was creating havoc in Chintoor mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju district. As many as 115 villages in Chintoor and Vara Ramachandrapuram mandals were affected by the flood water. The vehicular traffic was disrupted on the Chatti and Singannagudem village as flood water was overflowing on the road. The highway, leading to odisha, was inundated between Nimalagudem-Kuyyaguru villages.
