The Congress filed a complaint with the Governor, Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan, against Health Director Dr G. Srinivasa Rao on Monday alleging that Dr Srinivasa Rao has been functioning as a BRS activist for the last six months.
The Congress mentioned in its complaint that the Health Director has been engaging in misconduct while in government service. On July 30, Dr Srinivasa Rao had announced openly at a meeting of the GSR Trust that he is going to contest the Assembly elections on a BRS ticket.
“The Congress brings to your (Governor) attention that when a person is in government service holding an important post he cannot be affiliated to any political party as per rules. Dr Srinivasa Rao is repeatedly announcing his political affiliation at public gatherings. We request you to remove Dr Srinivas Rao, the Director of Health, from government service,” the letter said.
Speaking to the media regarding this, TPCC Vice-President Vinod Reddy said that the Health Director has been supporting the BRS. He demanded that Dr Srinivasa Rao should resign from his post before making such statements. Another Congress Vice-President Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government had made Dr Srinivasa Rao Health Director although there were several other senior candidates. “How is Dr Srinivasa Rao continuing in the same post for eight years? The BRS government has been giving posts to retired officials and also bringing the same officials into politics.
