In an effort to improve the city’s recreational spaces, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri has issued directives to the concerned officials to take proactive measures in maintaining existing parks and establishing new ones in vacant areas.
During a site visit on Thursday, the Commissioner inspected the ongoing development works at YSR Park, situated in Teachers Colony, and Inner Ring Road. Additionally, she assessed the progress of development at Gaddipadu and Reddypalem irrigation tanks. To expedite the projects, she urged the engineering officials to take swift action.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri instructed the engineering officers to propose comprehensive plans for developing parks in municipal corporation-owned vacant plots across the city. These initiatives aim to provide the local community with recreational facilities that promote both enjoyment and good health. She emphasized the importance of involving locals in the management of the parks to ensure their sustained upkeep.
The Commissioner mandated that the parks should feature amenities such as walking tracks, open gyms, children’s play equipment, and lush greenery. Furthermore, proposals were requested for establishing basketball, shuttle, and badminton courts in the identified park areas.
Immediate attention was directed towards the repair of open gyms and children’s play equipment in existing parks. Moreover, the development works at Teachers Kalani and Inner Ring Road YSR Park were instructed to be expedited.
Regarding the enhancement of the irrigation tanks, engineering officials were tasked with preparing proposals for the development of Gaddipadu and Reddypalem tanks.
SE Sundarami Reddy, EE Srinivasa Rao, ADH Rama Rao, and ACP Ajay Kumar accompanied the Commissioner.
