The Ongole II nd additional district court Judge MA Somasekhar sentenced Pilli Nagendra Babu alias Moses to 13 years imprisonment for raping a woman and also imposed a Rs 4000 fine.
Police on Tuesday said that the accused Narendra Babu molested a woman when she was travelling in an auto rickshaw on July 12, 2021.
The rape victim was a flowers vendor and she boarded an auto-rickshaw on July 12, 2021, to reach Purchur. Since she was alone in the auto-rickshaw, the accused, who was driving the auto-rickshaw then, drove the auto rickshaw to a secluded place and raped her. She lodged a complaint with the Purchur police station and a case was registered under section Cr. No: 144/2021 U/S 323,376,506 IPC.
SP Vakul Jindal said that the trial monitoring system is yielding good results. The SP said that since the trial of the case started in the Ongole II Additional District Court, Martur CI Sheikh T Firoze and Parchur SI NC Prasad gave the witness training to testify fearlessly in the court and appear in front of the judge at the right time.
PP Y Konda Reddy presented the arguments efficiently and proved the offence against the accused with suitable witnesses, the SP said.
