Raids conducted on cockfight arenas, 63 held

BAPATLA: The police have conducted raids at 10 cockfight arenas in the district during the last four days, arrested 63 people, and seized Rs 1.46 lakh. SP Vakul Jinal in a statement here on Monday said that on a tip-off the police conducted raids at various places and arrested cockfight organizers, seized roosters, and Rs 1,46,620 from them. The police also seized three two-wheelers, 8 mobile phones, and roosters. The SP warned of stringent action if cockfights or poker gambling are organised in the district. The gambling habit ruins the families, he said.
